Resize an Image

Change a photo's size to exactly the number of pixels you need, or by a percentage. The photo editor runs in your browser, so your pictures are never uploaded.

How to Resize an Image

  1. Open your photo in the photo editor. JPG, PNG and WebP work.
  2. In the Resize tool on the left, type a Width or Height in pixels (with Keep shape ticked, the other follows), or type a Percent of the photo.
  3. To change the file type at the same time, choose JPG, PNG or WebP in the Convert tool.
  4. Press the save button at the top right (it says Save JPG, Save PNG or Save WebP, after the file type). The picture goes to your downloads.

Questions

Will making a picture bigger make it sharper?

No. Enlarging spreads the same detail over more pixels, so a small picture blown up looks soft. Making a picture smaller keeps it sharp.

What size should I use?

It depends on where the picture goes. For a web page or an email, 1200 to 2000 pixels on the long side is plenty; a phone photo is often 4000 pixels or more. Common widths sets 800 to 3840 pixels in one click.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. The photo is opened, resized and saved on your device.
