How to Crop a Video for TikTok and Reels

  1. Open your video in the video editor.

  3. Choose Fill (crop) and drag the picture so the important part stays in view, or Fit (blurred bars) to keep the whole picture with blurred bars around it.

Questions

Which shape do TikTok and Reels use?

Vertical 9:16, the shape of a phone screen held upright.

Crop or blurred bars: which is better?

Crop fills the screen but keeps only part of the picture: from a wide 16:9 video, a 9:16 crop keeps about a third of the width. Blurred bars keep everything in view, with the bars filling the empty space.

Can I crop to any size I want?

For video, you choose from the five shapes above. The photo editor has free cropping for pictures.
