Remove the Location from a Photo

Phone photos often carry where they were taken, the camera and the date, hidden in the file (EXIF data). See what yours says and save it without that data. Everything happens in your browser, so the photo isn't uploaded.

How to Remove the Location from a Photo

  1. Open your photo in the photo editor. JPG, PNG and WebP work.
  2. In the Convert tool on the left, What this photo says about you shows where it was taken (as coordinates), the camera and the date. Show everything lists all the data the file carries.
  3. Press Remove the data, keep everything else. You get the same photo without that data; the picture itself isn't saved again, so it looks exactly the same.

Questions

Does saving an edited photo keep the location?

No. Every photo you save from the editor, edited or not, contains only the picture: no location, camera or date.

Will my photo be turned the wrong way afterwards?

No. If the photo is stored on its side, only that one setting is kept, so it still shows upright.

Can I clean many photos at once?

Yes. In the Batch tool, tick Only remove the data (location, camera, date) and save: you get one ZIP with every photo cleaned and otherwise unchanged; see resize images in bulk.

Is my photo sent anywhere to be checked?

No. The data is read from the file on your device and shown there. There's no map: the location is shown as coordinates, so nothing is looked up online.
